Making CE marking easy
for windows and external doors
CE-fix

Since 1 February 2010, windows and external pedestrian doorsets have been required to bear the CE mark. This is quite a challenge for the window and door industry. VBH has therefore set itself the task of finding a solution for the industry. In partnership with the highly respected Institut für Fenstertechnik (ift Rosenheim), VBH has developed a user-friendly Internet platform for all window and door manufacturers.

This platform is based on hundreds of tests conducted by the ift Rosenheim under contract for VEB. Thanks to this unique VBH Internet platform, window and door manufacturers have access to more than one million design and combination options for hardware, seals/gaskets, drainage systems, profile geometries, etc.

Oversize designs and constructions?

No problem! We have test reports and documents to cover oversizes, too.

Uw-value / Rw-value?

With the help of our “expert mode” you can prepare additional reports providing evidence of thermal transmittance or sound reduction indices for your product.

Who issues the CE mark?

According to Annex ZA.3 (“CE marking and labelling“) of product standard EN 14351-1:2006+A1:2010, the manufacturer or his agent established within the EEA are responsible for affixing the CE mark. The Construction Products Directive / Law defines manufacturers as those who produce the construction product and place it on the market.

Who can help me?

VBH! Our professional system support team are here to help you. Our CE experts at your local VHB offices can also gladly provide you with preliminary information about the VBH CE solution.

Normative basis

The Construction Products Directive (CPD) laid the basis for the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the EU Member States. In Germany it was implemented by the Construction Products Law (Bauproduktengesetz) and an Amendment to the Model Building Code (Musterbauordnung). The Construction Products Directive defines essential requirements for construction products that are to be incorporated into construction works. These requirements are specified in detail by harmonised standards and other documents. The harmonised product standard EN 14351-1:2006+A1:2010 describes the performance characteristics of windows and external pedestrian doorsets without resistance to fire and/or smoke leakage characteristics. It has now been included in the Construction Products List (Bauregelliste) Part B/1, to which reference is made in the Building Codes of the German Federal States (Landesbauordnungen). The Construction Products List lists all construction products that are covered by the “scope of harmonised standards pursuant to the Construction Products Directive“.

What is the CE mark?

By applying the CE mark, a manufacturer declares under his own responsibility that his product complies with the European requirements set out in EU Directives, and that the product was manufactured in conformity with the relevant product standard (EN 14351-1:2006+A1:2010).
